Founded in 2000 by award-winning producer Gub Neal, formerly Head of Drama at Channel 4 and Controller of Drama at Granada Television, Box produces film and television of the highest quality and vision for markets throughout the world. In its first five years, Box's core team of Gub, Justin Thomson-Glover and Patrick Irwin have overseen more than ?5m of production. The team were joined by Adrian Bate, formerly Head of Film & Drama at Zenith Entertainment, in October 2006.

Box's creative reputation is built upon the company's ability to find the exciting and the fresh, the big and the bold, the controversial and the mainstream. It is able to achieve this versatility through its strong links with domestic and international writing, directing, performing and production talent.

Together with its own production activity, Box works with fellow UK and international producers on a consultancy basis, with an emphasis on the company's considerable experience of filming in Romania at the leading studio, Media Pro.

In December 2005 Box was acquired by DCD Media plc, the leading independent UK based group specialising in the production and distribution of arts, entertainment, music and drama TV programming. Under the chairmanship of David Elstein, DCD Media comprises - alongside Box - high profile content producers Iambic and Done and Dusted, distributor NBDtv - one of the world's largest and most diverse music television catalogues, as well as its own DVD label Digital Classics DVD.
